ORGANIZATIONThe Milwaukee County War Memorial Center (WMC), a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), is a significant architectural and cultural landmark located on the shores of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Designed by renowned Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen, the center was dedicated on Veterans Day in 1957 as a tribute to the men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. HAPA – ORGANIZATION OVERVIEWHAPA opened its doors in 2004 to local Hmong American children who were struggling to succeed in public schools, and to families who felt that their traditions, language, and values would support a culture of achievement. What modestly began as a K-5 school serving 200 students is today one of Milwaukee’s highest performing schools, serving over 1,800 K4-12 scholars. Data from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction shows that despite 82 percent of students qualifying as economically disadvantaged, HAPA’s academic performance, when compared to all schools in Wisconsin, exceeds expectations. ORGANIZATION The Women’s Economic Self-Sufficiency Team (WESST) is a nonprofit organization with the mission of assisting any New Mexican to start or grow a small business. WESST provides a support system of consulting, training, incubation, and lending to help women, people of color, and low-wealth individuals successfully strengthen and grow their businesses through sustainable sales, financial knowledge, and job creation.
